What is an Overnight Lock-In?

An Overnight Lock-In is a program for groups that allow for an evening of learning fun paired with an overnight stay at the center.

What types of groups book Overnight Lock-Ins?

SO many groups are looking for a fun educational overnight experience. We do Overnight Lock-Ins for camp groups, day cares, schools, Scout groups, Sunday School groups, and even youth groups. If you are looking for something special for the ones you lead, we have what you need.

What would a sample schedule of the Overnight Lock-In look like?

Friday:

6:00 pm | Check In, Set Up, Outdoor Play Time, and Optional Dinner (Dinner is not provided. If you choose to have dinner for your group, you must bring your own food and drinks.)

7:00 pm | Welcome and Introduction

7:30-10:30 pm | Science Activity Stations

10:30 pm | Science Snacking (Snacks are Provided. If any of your group members have an allergy or specific dietary needs, please feel free to bring your own snacks, also.)

11:30 pm | Animal Encounters

12:30 am | Teeth Brushed and Beds Made

1:00 am | Lights Out

Saturday:

8 am | Continental Breakfast (Provided. If any of your group members have an allergy or specific dietary needs, please feel free to bring your own breakfast, also.)

9 am | Clean Up and Load Up

10 am | Check Out

Is there a minimum amount of participants that you need to book an Overnight Lock-In?

Yes, you must have at least 25 full price participants to book a night.

How do you reserve an Overnight Lock-In?

Reservations can be made by contacting us at kids@akronfossils.org or by calling (330) 665 - DINO. Due to the specialized nature of the staffing needed, Overnight Lock-Ins may not be available at all times. When you contact us, we can check dates for you and let you know the options. Please make sure to reserve your spot AT LEAST two weeks in advance. A $100 nonrefundable deposit is required. The deposit can be made with a credit card over the telephone by calling the Center during our office hours or by making a payment in person at the Science Center.  We accept cash, check, Visa, and MasterCard.

Is the zip-line included? (Our Zipline is currently CLOSED for updates. Open date is TBT.)

The Zipline is only available as an add-on attraction and must be requested at the time of booking. For $5 extra per eligible participant, we can add this to your time. If you choose to add this on, all participants will need a liability release form signed by a parent or a legal guardian. PARTICIPANTS WHO DO NOT HAVE A SIGNED RELEASE FORM WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE TO RIDE THE ZIP-LINE.  Click here to download and print the form. All riders must be 48 inches or taller to participate.
